16th Annual Colonial Christmas

Holiday Shopping, Santa Visits, Pony Rides, And Festive Activities For All Ages

An array of holiday merchants, musical performances, family and children’s activities, food trucks and pony rides are just a few of the highlights in store for visitors to the 16th Annual Colonial Christmas at Bedminster’s historic Jacobus Vanderveer House & Museum, sponsored by Glenmede; Bevan, Mosca & Giuditta, P.C.; Investors Bank; Meeker Sharkey & Hurley; Maplecrest Auto Group; Union Paving & Construction; Mr. & Mrs. Darrick Anderson; Yolanda A. Cillo, M.D.; and Mr. & Mrs. Craig Sutherland. The Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House invite visitors of all ages to experience Christmas past and present when the circa 1772 Dutch Colonial home opens its wreath-clad doors Saturday and Sunday, November 24-25 and Saturday and Sunday, December 1-2. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The popular fundraiser features: tours of the museum, which will be decorated for the holidays by Gail Whiting of Design Consultants, Lynn and Jessica Angelone of Angelone’s Florist, Flowers on the Ridge, and Camelot Construction; holiday shopping with boutique merchants and artisans; Colonial musicians, re-enactors and crafters; pony rides provided by Dapple Hill Farm; military demonstrations by Lambs Artillery Company; Santa visits; gingerbread house workshops for children; and a special exhibit from the Knox Museum in Thomaston, Maine.

    Make your own Frosty the Snowman come to life at our Holiday Ornament Workshop. Learn how to make a needle felted wool snowman tree ornament or decoration with Kerstin Katko of Ducky’s Sheep Shack! This is parent/child activity for children ages 7 and older. With special felting tools provided, participants will create Frosty from scratch, complete with a carrot nose, scarf, and eyes made out of coal! Cost: $25 per child and adult partner includes  admission to Colonial Christmas house tour.

Kait will teach participants how to design and paint (select from various stencils) and finish a rustic 15” wooden tray with metal handles as we sip the night away! Beverages provided! Holiday House Tour, Exhibits, Reenactors, Santa Visits, and Boutiques

An array of holiday merchants, musical performances, family and children’s activities, are just a few of the highlights in store for visitors to the 17th Annual Colonial Christmas at Bedminster’s historic Jacobus Vanderveer House & Museum.

The Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House invite visitors of all ages to experience Christmas past and present when the circa 1772 Dutch Colonial home opens its wreath-clad doors Saturday and Sunday, December 7-8.  Hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

The popular fundraiser features: tours of the museum, which will be decorated for the holidays by The Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House, holiday shopping boutique merchants and artisans; live holiday music, re-enactors and crafters; military demonstrations by Lambs Artillery Company; Santa visits (including a book reading with Santa!);  and festive craft workshops for children and adults.

Tree Lighting
6:30 p.m.

Join us for caroling with Harmonium Choral Society and hot chocolate, as we light our red, white, and blue Christmas tree and ring in the holiday season.
FREE to the entire community!

Candlelight Museum Tour
7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Join us for festive Colonial libations, music, light hors d’oeuvres, and tours of the Jacobus Vanderveer House in candle light!

The Colonial merrymaking will be aided by authentic colonial cocktails served up by Les and Jobie Ford, re-enactors portraying barkeeps with The Mumbling Manxman, an 18th century traveling field tavern. Cost: $25 per adult.

  •  Holiday Ornament Craft Workshop
    Make your own Frosty the Snowman come to life at our Holiday Ornament Workshop. Learn how to make a needle felted wool snowman tree ornament or decoration with Kerstin Katko of Ducky’s Sheep Shack! This is parent/child activity for children ages 7 and older. With special felting tools provided, participants will create Frosty from scratch, complete with a carrot nose, scarf, and eyes made out of coal! Cost: $25 per child and adult partner includes  admission to Colonial Christmas house tour.

  • Music performance by Hickory Tree Chorus

  • Adult Craft Workshop: Holiday Paint and Sip with Kait Roamer
    CYMERA_20191106_172555Adults are invited to create their own personalized 15″ rustic holiday entertaining tray with Kait Roamer, The Traveling Painter. Kait will teach participants how to design and paint (select from various stencils) and finish a rustic 15” wooden tray with metal handles as we sip the night away! Beverages provided! Must be 21 years of age or older to participate!
    Cost is $55 in advance, $60 walk-in.

    Cost: $35 per stuffed animal, limited to one child and one adult per kit. Price includes one (1) accompanying adult admission to the Museum and one (1) child admission to the Museum. Stop in early to visit with Santa and enjoy a book reading of “The Night Before Christmas.”
