On Friday, November 30, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., the Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House will welcome supporters to a cocktail reception replete with fish tales, cocktails, and plenty of retail therapy.  Christopher Forbes, an Honorary Trustee of the Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House, will serve as Honorary Chair of the evening event.

A bounty of creative appetizers from land and sea will be served up courtesy of Metropolitan Seafood & Gourmet, of Lebanon, New Jersey.  The store, owned and operated for nearly 30 years by Mark Drabich, has been aptly described as a piscatorial mecca for seafood lovers far and wide.  The menu will include an array of sushi rolls, Mediterranean delicacies, and a selection of inventive chicken, beef, mushroom, cheese, potato, and smoked fish creations.

The Colonial merrymaking will be aided by authentic colonial cocktails and ale served up by Les and Jobie Ford, re-enactors portraying barkeeps with The Mumbling Manxman, an 18th century traveling field tavern.  Eighteenth century music will be provided by the Practitioners of Musick, featuring John Burkhalter on the English flute and Donovan Klotzbeacher on the harpsichord. Guests will also enjoy boutique shopping among a variety of distinctive merchants, including Classic Home & Garden;  India Hicks; Stanton Sweets; MACJAC, LLC; Virginia Peacock; and Lady Ellen’s Fine Ware.
